Cyclist killed in Wellesley crash Friday is identified
The bicyclist struck and killed in Wellesley early Friday afternoon has been identified as Alexander Motsenigos, 41, according to a statement from the Wellesley Police Department.
Motsenigos, a Wellesley resident, was struck near the intersection of Weston Road and Linden Street Friday at 1:58 p.m. and transported to Newton Wellesley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the statement. The driver did not stop, police said.
Motsenigos was wearing a bicycle safety helmet at the time of the crash, police said.
Both Motsenigos and the driver of the other vehicle were driving north on Weston Road, according to the statement.
On Friday, neighbors said the intersection, at the bottom of a short but steep hill, was dangerous.
The incident remains under investigation and Wellesley Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the accident to call the police department at 781-253-1212.
