Brockton man arrested by Boston police after shooting in front of South End liquor store
A Brockton man is facing charges after he allegedly shot at a group of people in front of a liquor store in Boston’s South End.
Officers in the area conducting an unrelated investigation said they saw a man get out of his vehicle in front of 620 Shawmut Ave. and open fire at around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.
When the man saw the police officers, he ran through Ramsay Park, police said, discarding his gun along the way. Police caught up to the man in the 1900 block of Washington Street, where they arrested him. Officers later found the discarded gun.
Kevin Washington, 32, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, unlawful possession of ammunition, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling.
Washington was slated to be arraigned this afternoon in Roxbury District Court.Sarah N. Mattero can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
