SPENCER — State Police detectives have converged on a house on Pine Acres Drive near Thompson Pond.
Timothy Connolly, a spokesman for the Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early Jr., said authorities are investigating a death at 35 Pine Acres Drive.
Local police were called to the area shortly before 11:30 a.m. after a report a man may be dead in the house, according to scanner reports.
On the scanner, police were heard asking a dispatcher whether there were any weapons in the home. The dispatcher said there were only knives in the house and that the wife was hysterical.
An ambulance was dispatched for “an assault victim” who may be dead, according to scanner reports.
Police have blocked the narrow dirt road near Thompson Pond. Investigators, including Spencer Police Chief David B. Darrin, have been coming and going from the scene.
An ambulance that was parked in front of the house left about 2 p.m. At least one neighbor has been allowed to drive to her home next door to the scene.
