Traffic flowing smoothly off the Cape
Traffic on Route 6 in Bourne was flowing smoothly late today after a 6-mile backup plagued drivers leaving the Cape throughout most of the afternoon, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation said.
As of 5:40 p.m., drivers are moving at speeds slightly less than 50 miles per hour as drivers approach the Route 3 connector, SigAlert showed. Earlier today, travelers on this stretch of road had crawled at 16 miles per hour.
A half-mile backup was reported around 4:45 p.m. by State Police on the Bourne Bridge. There have been no delays on Route 28, according to State Police.
Drivers traveling south on Interstate 95 from Maine are facing delays as they move toward the York Toll Plaza, with speeds as low as 16 miles per hour for nearly 2 miles, SigAlert showed.
I-95 north remains clear from Boston to Maine.
Drivers heading to and from New Hampshire should expect some congestion and decreased speeds both eastbound and westbound where Route 101 meets Route 1 towards Hampton Beach.
