Officials warn of dangerous surf this weekend from Hurricane Leslie
In anticipation of Hurricane Leslie, state officials are urging swimmers and boaters to beware of high seas and strong currents that may affect Massachusetts’ coastal regions in the coming few days.
The tropical cyclone is projected to pass several hundred miles east of Massachusetts, but it may whip up breakers in excess of 12 feet possible in coastal areas, the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency said in a statement.
The National Weather Service says the ocean is still stirred up from Tropical Storm Kirk. Those will reside, but swells from Leslie should arrive Friday night and the waves should increase Saturday into Sunday before subsiding late Monday into Tuesday.Sarah N.
