Bicyclist, 63, struck and killed by pickup truck on Morrissey Boulevard in Dorchester, State Police say
A 63-year-old man was killed early this morning after he was hit by a pickup truck while riding his bicycle on Morrissey Boulevard in Dorchester, State Police said.
Troopers received a call at 12:28 a.m. that the bicyclist had been struck on the outbound side of the road, State Police said in a statement.
The man was thrown from the bicycle and suffered “grievous injuries,” State Police said.
Boston firefighters and EMS were unable to revive the man and pronounced him dead at the scene.
The 47-year-old driver of the pickup truck made the 911 call and was transported to Boston Medical Center with minor injuries, State Police said.
The outbound side of Morrissey Boulevard was closed for three hours while officials responded.
The crash remains under investigation by State Police and no charges have been filed.
The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
