Voters OK $903,000 debt exclusion for school computers
LAKEVILLE — Lakeville voters approved a $903,000 debt exclusion Saturday to pay for replacing the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District’s aging computer network.
The vote was 517 in favor and 280 opposed, said acting School Superintendent Jessica Huizenga.
“I’m very excited about the outcome of today’s vote,” Huizenga said. “It’s comforting to see the community come out and support the schools in such a strong fashion.”
According to the town clerk’s office, 11 percent of registered voters turned out at the polls. Freetown voters still must also endorse the tax hike for the technology upgrade to move forward; the town is scheduled to vote on the debt exclusion Sept. 24.
