Truck gets stuck in Storrow Drive tunnel
Traffic is flowing again after crews cleared an over-height box truck that smashed into the Storrow Drive eastbound tunnel this morning, said Trooper Todd Nolan, a State Police spokesman.
The truck got wedged in the tunnel at 7:45 a.m., Nolan said.
The crash destroyed the box of the truck, but no injuries were reported, he said.
The right lane was affected and State Police warned drivers in an official tweet to expect traffic delays on the inbound side of Storrow Drive and Soldiers Field Road.
State troopers and the State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section responded to the scene, Nolan said.
A private towing company let air out of the truck’s tires, dragged it out of the tunnel, and towed it away, Nolan said.
Officials from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation completed a bridge inspection, Nolan said.
As of 10:15 a.m. all lanes were reopened, he said.
