Stoughton cow takes a leisurely walk through town

It was a perfect early autumn evening for a leisurely walk through town. That’s what a Stoughton cow appeared to think, anyway, when it escaped from its pen Tuesday evening.

Police received calls around 11 p.m. about the bovine strolling around the RK Plaza on Park Street. The shopping plaza is close to the farm where the cow belongs, Animal Control Officer Michael Gormaley said. The cow was found in a trailer park near the plaza.

“It happens every now and then,” Gormaley said.

The owner arrived quickly to retrieve the animal, he said.

It wasn’t too difficult to bribe the cow to walk back home, Gormaley said. “All it takes is to show them a loaf of bread and they come walking back.”
