Authorities on Monday recovered a body in the Charles River near the Boston University boathouse, and say “nothing readily suggests” foul play.

The body appears to be that of an older white male, and is not the graduate student who went missing last week. State Police have tentatively identified the man and believe he entered the water within the past two days.

The body was taken to the medical examiner’s office. State Police detectives will seek to determine the circumstances of the man’s death, and are investigating whether the man was homeless or possibly intoxicated.

Boston University police notified state authorities around 8:15 Monday morning of a body floating in the river.

Jonathan Dailey, a second-year student at Boston Architectural College, was last seen Tuesday at his apartment in Allston. Dailey’s personal effects, including his eyeglasses and driver’s license, were found in the apartment.
