21-year-old Carver woman seriously injured after rollover accident in cranberry bog

A 21-year-old Carver woman was in serious condition Saturday night after rolling over a car into a cranberry bog off Wareham Street, Carver police said.

The woman, who was not identified, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the 1998 Nissan Maxima in the crash, which occurred shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday, police said. She was driving alone.

Carver police Sergeant Raymond Orr said the car appeared to have rolled over four times.

Carver Emergency Medical Services transported the woman to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. She was still in surgery around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Orr said.

Speed appeared to be a factor in the accident, which is under investigation. Orr said drivers often exceed the speed limit on Wareham Street and it is the site of many accidents.
