A male reported being attacked by five youths Wednesday afternoon at the Downtown Crossing subway station, Transit Police said. The victim’s age was not available.

According to Transit Police, officers received a report of a fight by the pass sales office at about 4:30 p.m. When they arrived, the victim told them that he encountered his attackers, all between the ages of 16 and 19, when he exited an Red Line Ashmont train about 10 minutes earlier.

He told officers that the group, which included one female, attacked him for no reason. He described the main instigator was wearing a dark grey hoodie that said Hollister on the front, jeans and sneakers, according to a Transit Police report.

He told police the woman was wearing purple parka with fur on the hood, and green pants.

The man refused medical treatment at the scene, the report said, and officers searched the area for the suspects but could not find them. The incident remains under investigation.

An MBTA spokesman said police were not releasing any information about the man, including his age.
