Officials evacuated the basement and lobby of the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center after a chemical spill was reported just before 11:30 a.m. today, Boston police and fire officials said.

No injuries were reported and no patients were affected by the spill, Boston Fire Department spokesman Steve MacDonald said in an official tweet.

The hazardous chemical spill, which involved gas used to sterilize equipment, occurred “either inside or outside” of the medical center at 330 Brookline Ave., officials said.

Boston firefighters and police were still at the scene just before noon today. No further details were immediately available.
