Good news for the blizzard-weary: Wednesday storm will drop only 2 inches — at most
Good news for the blizzard-weary.
The National Weather Service says a storm Wednesday will pass farther offshore than originally thought, which means that most of Massachusetts will get only a dusting, if that.
The storm will drop 1 inch or less in Southeastern Massachusetts, all the way up to Boston’s southern suburbs, and only 1 to 2 inches on the south coast and Cape Cod and the islands. The rest of the state won’t get any at all, according to a snowfall forecast map issued by the weather service this afternoon.
It’s a good thing because the state is still recovering from the mammoth storm that dropped slightly more than 30 inches on some areas of Massachusetts on Friday and Saturday.
After temperatures climb into the 40s this afternoon, they’ll drop to the mid-20s to lower 30s tonight, forecasters say. Wednesday will be partly sunny and a little cooler. Temperatures will be in the mid-30s to lower 40s.
Skies will cloud up Wednesday night as the quick-moving coastal storm swings by.
Another coastal storm may arrive on the weekend, and unseasonably cold weather will mark the beginning of next week, the forecasters say.
