State Police hunt for driver who fled after traffic stop
State Police are hunting for a driver who fled a traffic stop Wednesday night near the CANA tunnel in Boston on Route 1 southbound, nearly striking the trooper and scraping his cruiser, officials said.
Police said the trooper pursued the vehicle about 9:15 p.m. along Storrow Drive into the area of Beacon and Gloucester streets where the driver abandoned the car, a 2004 Lincoln Town Car, and fled on foot, breaking into several homes in the area of Marlborough Street.
State Police searched the area with K-9 units assisted by Boston police, but the suspect was not found, police said.
Authorities said they have developed information about the suspect’s identity, according to a statement.
The trooper who made the traffic stop was standing outside his cruiser when he was nearly struck. Police said he was not hurt.
