A building inspector will examine a church in East Boston after copper flashing was found hanging from the roof by firefighters, officials said.
Fire department spokesman Steve MacDonald said the firefighters spotted the flashing hanging from the roof about 1 p.m. and took it down.
He said no injuries were reported. The flashing weighed about 20 pounds.
The First Presbyterian Church was built about 1870, according to city records.
