Brockton 10-year-old calls 911 after mother tells him to go to bed
A 10-year-old boy called the Brockton police to report his mother after she told him to go to bed Wednesday evening, police said.
The boy’s mother had told him to go to bed and he refused, dialing the police. A dispatcher called back after the caller hung up, and the mother picked up the phone at the home just off Route 28 south of the downtown area.
After explaining the situation to the dispatcher, the mother can be heard on the recording of the call reprimanding her son.
“Would you like to talk to the police? Because you can’t be calling 911 when there is no emergency, because they need it for people who actually are in trouble,” the mother says.
The dispatcher says in an apologetic tone that an officer will be coming over to check things out anyway.
