Body found near I-93 in South End tentatively identified as Roxbury man, 43
A 43-year-old Roxbury man has been tentatively identified as the person whose body was found underneath Interstate 93 in the South End on Monday, Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley’s office said today.
The man’s name was being withheld pending confirmation by the man’s relatives, prosecutors said.
The man’s death is being investigated as a possible homicide, although a formal cause of death has not yet been established by the state medical examiner’s office, prosecutors said.
The body was found around 8:30 a.m. Monday underneath the northbound lanes near Albany and Traveler streets in the South End, which is a short walk from the Pine Street Inn homeless shelter. However, Inn spokeswoman Barbara Trevisan said Monday the man is not believed to be connected to the shelter.
The man’s death is under investigation by State Police assigned to Conley’s office because the man's body was found on state property in Boston.
