Peabody man charged in Landsdowne Street hit-and-run
Boston police arrested a Peabody man in a hit-and-run on Lansdowne Street early Sunday. Officers saw a brown Mercury Grand Marquis hit a woman near the corner of Lansdowne and Ipswich streets shortly before 12:30 a.m., then drive away, a Boston police spokeswoman said. The officers transmitted a description of the car, driver, and a partial license plate number. Other officers soon stopped a car fitting the description near 1161 Boylston St. and arrested its driver, police said. Police charged Everett Strauss, 30, with leaving the scene of an accident with a personal injury and possession of a Class D substance. The woman had a cut on her face and complained of leg and shoulder pain, but was not seriously injured, police said. She was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
