Police in South End search for assailant who punched a man who was then run over by a taxi

Police are searching for a person who apparently punched a man who was then run over and dragged by a taxicab early this morning, Boston Police said.

At 2:04 a.m., officers in the South End responded to a call of a person struck by a car near Whiskey’s Bar on Boylston Street. Witnesses told police they saw two people arguing, with the assailant yelling “[Expletive] Boston and [expletive] your businesses!” in the middle of the street before punching the victim, who fell to the ground.

A cab, heading inbound on Boylston, ran over the unconscious victim and dragged him under the vehicle until bystanders motioned for him to stop, witnesses told police. The cab’s driver said he was unaware the man was under his vehicle.
