A Winthrop man is facing charges for stashing a recording device in a teenager’s bedroom to secretly record the girl, Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley’s office said.
On Wednesday, Brandon White, 29, allegedly hid an iPad Mini in the bedroom of a 14-year-old family friend, capturing video of the girl in a state of nudity, prosecutors said.
The girl discovered the device and the footage it contained, and family members reported the incident to police, prosecutors said. Winthrop police issued an arrest warrant for White and arrested him Thursday in Swampscott with the help of Swampscott police. A computer and the iPad Mini allegedly used by White were taken into evidence.
White was arraigned this morning in East Boston District Court for photographing an unsuspecting person in the nude and exhibiting a child in the state of nudity. A not-guilty plea was automatically entered on his behalf.
White’s bail was set at $1,000, which he had previously posted with the condition that he have no contact with the victim and stay away from where the incident occurred. He will return to court May 21.
