Man, 46, struck and killed by commuter rail train in Attleboro today; Transit Police investigating
A 46-year-old man was struck and killed by an inbound commuter rail train in Attleboro just after 9 a.m. today, MBTA spokesman Joseph Pesaturo said.
The victim was struck while he was Track 4 east of the Attleboro train station, near Peck Street, Pesaturo said. He said the person, whose name has not been released, was trespassing near mile post 197 at the time of the fatal incident.
No passengers on the train were injured, Pesaturo said.
The Attleboro station is on the Providence/Stoughton Line.
Just after 10:45 a.m., the MBTA reported the line was experiencing residual delays.
Transit Police are investigating the incident, the MBTA said.
