The Merrimack Valley Bandit has struck again, police say.
Dracut police officials said that a TD Bank branch in Dracut was held up at gunpoint for the second time this week around 3:30 p.m. Sunday, and authorities say they think the culprit is the same robber recently dubbed the “Merrimack Valley Bandit” by the FBI.
Since February, the robber has hit seven banks in northeastern Massachusetts, including Lawrence, Methuen, Dracut, and Groveland, according to the FBI.
Chaput said the man who robbed the bank Sunday is described as just under six feet tall, and was wearing a black hooded jacket, jeans, and work boots.
Chaput said the same Dracut branch was also robbed at gunpoint last Monday.
“We believe the same suspect committed both robberies, and that he is the same suspect for over a half dozen other robberies,” Chaput said.
Earlier this week, the FBI announced it would award $10,000 to anyone with information leading directly to the bandit’s arrest, noting that the bandit is “considered armed and dangerous.”
Agents described the man as under six feet tall with thin eyebrows. They also said he may have accomplices in a white or light-colored car to help him escape.
Anyone with information should call the FBI at 617-742-5533 or contact their local police department.
