Inert hand grenade discovered by landscapers at Wellesley home
An inert hand grenade was discovered at a home in Wellesley this morning, Wellesley police said.
Just before 8:30 a.m., a landscaper at 53 Falmouth Road happened upon the grenade, Wellesley police spokeswoman Lieutenant Marie Cleary said.
The first officers called to the scene realized it was hollow and inert, Cleary said. They canceled a request for the State Police bomb squad.
The Falmouth Road home is not located near the Boston Marathon route, which cuts through Wellesley.
