A man’s body has been recovered after he drowned in Woburn’s Horn Pond Monday, Woburn Police Chief Paul Tortolano said.
Two men were in a canoe, roughly 16 feet long, when it overturned just before 6 p.m. Monday, Tortolano said. Only one man made it to shore.
The victim remained missing into the middle of the night despite crews searching the pond, he said.
The man’s body was recovered just before 9 a.m. Tuesday roughly 300 feet from shore, Tortolano said. State Police and Stoneham divers assisted, as well as civilians with sonar devices.
It’s not clear what caused the canoe to overturn, he said.
