A hundred years after Brookline resident Francis Ouimet became the first amateur to win the US Open, the best-selling author who told his story is coming to town. Mark Frost, the author of “The Greatest Game Ever Played,” about Ouimet’s improbable victory in his hometown, will give a lecture and sign copies of his book at 6 p.m. May 16 at the Dexter Southfield School’s Clay Center, 20 Newton St. Ouimet was 20 when he beat the world’s best golfers to win the 1913 US Open, which was played at The Country Club. The presentation by Frost, whose 2002 book was turned into a Disney film in 2006, is being sponsored by the town’s Recreation Department, the Dexter Southfield School, and The Country Club.
