S. Boston man allegedly tried to ‘train surf’ on Red Line

A South Boston man is facing charges for attempting to “train surf” on a Red Line train early Friday evening, MBTA Transit Police said.

Justin Green, 29, was trying to hang onto the top roof rail of a train as it was pulling out of the North Quincy Station just after 5:30 p.m., Transit Police said, forcing MBTA personnel to stop the train to bring Green to safety.

When confronted by an officer, Green said he had a “God-given right to do anything he wants,” Transit Police said.

Witnesses told police that Green had allegedly tried to surf on other trains at the Wollaston Station, roughly a mile away, moments earlier.

Green pleaded not guilty today in Quincy District Court to a charge of disorderly conduct. The next hearing in his case was slated for July 24, said Norfolk district attorney’s spokesman David Traub.
