Two men shot on Beech Glen Street in Roxbury

One man suffered a life-threatening injury and a second a minor wound in a shooting in Roxbury’s Highland Park section Monday night, Boston police said.

A 911 call came in just past 9 p.m. and reported the incident on Beech Glen St., said Officer Katherine Shea, a police spokeswoman.

Both men were taken by ambulance to Boston Medical Center, Shea said.

At the scene, police blocked off a section of the short, bow-shaped street and shined powerful lights down on the asphalt. Officers with flashlights and a police dog peered into adjacent yards.

A detective on scene said shootings in this part of Roxbury are rare.
