A man has been hospitalized after walking into the back of a turning MBTA bus near the Public Garden in Boston, MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo said.

Boston police said they received a call for the accident at the intersection of Boylston and Arlington streets just before 11:45 a.m. The man walked into the “rear quarter” of a slow-turning Route 55 bus, Pesaturo said in an e-mail.

The man was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital for cuts on his leg, he said. The extent of his injuries was unclear.
