A Level 3 sex offender is facing charges that he groped a woman on a Green Line train late last year, the latest in a string of similar cases against him, prosecutors said.
Dane Mullin of Salem pleaded not guilty Tuesday to indecent assault and battery. He allegedly attacked the woman just before 7 a.m. in December on an E Line train between Haymarket and Government Center, Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley’s office said today.
The judge ordered held Mullin without bail for violating the terms of his probation on a previous conviction and on open warrants from Salem District Court for failing to register as a sex offender.
MBTA Transit Police arrested Mullin in February for the December assault after questioning him for stealing a cellphone from a passenger on a Green Line train.
The December assault violated the terms of Mullin’s probation after his conviction of assaulting two women in separate incidents at North Station in March 2011, prosecutors said. Mullin was sentenced to serve 18 months in a house of correction in that case.
Mullin has four other convictions of indecent assault and battery dating back to 2007, according to the state Sex Offender Registry.
Mullin is slated to return to court June 6.Lauren Dezenski can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org. Follow her on Twitter @LaurenDezenski.
