Boston Police officers shoot, kill person after he allegedly shot at them outside Dorchester party
Boston Police officers shot and killed a person after he allegedly shot at officers outside a party in Dorchester early Sunday morning, according to authorities.
The shootout happened just before 2 a.m. Sunday on Willowwood St., near where Dorchester and Mattapan meet, according to a statement from Boston Police.
When officers from the B-3 District in Mattapan arrived, witnesses who had been at a party in the area told police that a person was shooting, the statement said. The shooter, who police described only as a male, was in a vehicle.
As officers approached, the man allegedly fired at them, the statement said. The officers returned fire and shot the man, who was later pronounced dead at Boston Medical Center.
About 25 minutes before the shootout, officers had gone to the same area after a report of gunshots being fired there, according to the police department statement.
No further details about the shooting were immediately available. The Suffolk County District Attorney’s office and the Internal Affairs Unit of the Boston Police Department are investigating the shooting, the statement said.
