24-year-old Boston man found dead on Saugus road; police probe apparent hit and run

A Boston man was apparently fatally struck in a possible hit and run on Route 107 in Saugus early this morning, officials say.

Yasin Ismail, 24, was killed, said Essex district attorney’s spokeswoman Carrie Kimball-Monahan.

Saugus police responded to a 911 call reporting a body in the median of the roadway just before 5 a.m., according to Saugus Assistant Police Chief Ronald Giorgetti.

Police have not formally determined the man’s cause of death, Giorgetti said. Police are working to locate the vehicle potentially involved in the fatality, he said.

Around 7 a.m., State Police shut down the southbound side of the road for an hour to assist the district attorney’s office with accident reconstruction and investigation. The district attorney’s office is heading the investigation, police said.

Route 107 was opened to all traffic just after 9 a.m., Giorgetti and State Police said.
