Missing Newton teenager found in Boston
The missing Newton teenager authorities began searching for Saturday night was found safely in Boston on Sunday and returned home.
Ana Lopez, 16, had been missing since June 26 at about 4:30 p.m., said police, and hadn’t been in contact with any friends or family members. On Saturday, police began a physical search of the Hammond Pond area of Newton based on location information from the last ping of her cell phone.
Newton Police Lieutenant Bruce Apotheker thanked the State Police, Newton Fire Dept, Boston Police, and the Middlesex District Attorney’s forensic unit for their assistance in the search.
