A badly decomposed body was discovered on the banks of the Neponset River in Boston Monday night, according to Jake Wark, spokesman for Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley.
The body, which appears to be that of an adult, was found on the river bank off Truman Highway.
The state medical examiner’s office will try to determine the person’s identity and the cause of death, both of which may take some time to complete given the state of the remains, said Conley spokesman Jake Wark.
“We are in the information gathering stage,” Wark said. He said missing persons reports will be one area that investigators search for information that may lead them to the person’s identity.
The body was discovered around 7:20 p.m. Monday and State Police are investigating because the body was found on the grounds of a state agency, the Department of Conservation and Recreation.
