Massachusetts State Police said they apprehended a suspect in three armed robberies after a chase that went on for dozens of miles, ending in the woods.
The suspect, whose identity is not being released yet, was apprehended at 12:15 p.m. in a backyard on Grove Street in Foxborough, State Police spokesman David Procopio said.
The incident began in Abington when the man allegedly committed an armed robbery at Abington Liquor Store, Procopio said. He also allegedly robbed a Tedeschi’s in Brockton and a gas station in East Bridgewater, Procopio said.
After local police put out a description of the vehicle, the suspect was spotted by a Norfolk County sheriff's deputy traveling on Interstate 95 in the southbound lane, Procopio said.
The deputy informed State Police who sent Troop H in pursuit of the vehicle, Procopio said.
The suspect crashed his vehicle at Interstate 95 near Interstate 495, around the Mansfield-Foxborough line, Procopio said. The suspect then fled into the woods.
K-9 units and the State Police’s air wing were sent in to assist with the search, Procopio said.
The suspect was located in a homeowner’s Grove Street backyard and apprehended. The chase went for dozens of miles between the location of the suspect’s robbery in East Bridgewater and the location of his arrest.
No further information was immediately available.
