A dead man was discovered about 25 feet from the railroad tracks just south of the JFK/UMass MBTA station, according to MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo.

The body was first spotted at 7:53 a.m. by the engineer of a passing commuter rail train. The cause of death is unknown, but there were no signs of foul play, according to the MBTA.

Transit Police have responded to the scene.

MBTA service has not been halted or delayed due to the discovery, Pesaturo said in an e-mail.
