During an undercover investigation June 25, a police officer directly connected to McKinnon’s home computer and downloaded several digital files containing child pornography, according to a criminal complaint filed in Boston Municipal Court.

McKinnon was placed under arrest Thursday after officers from the Crimes Against Children Task Force and federal Homeland Security Investigations executed a search warrant at his residence and found the files.

McKinnon appeared in court Friday morning in a black T-shirt, tan shorts and sandals, but he did not speak.

His attorney, Michael Roitman, said during the arraignment that McKinnon has no criminal record and is a graduate of Northeastern University.

If McKinnon posts bail, a judge ordered, he must undergo GPS monitoring and stay away from schools and children.
