Vietnam War-era explosive removed from Newton home
A Vietnam War-era explosive device was safely removed from a Newton home Saturday afternoon, according to State Police. Local and State police were called to the Central Avenue residence at about 12:50 p.m. after a person found the item, a State Police spokesman said in a brief phone interview this afternoon. The office of the State Fire Marshal will use its own explosives to detonate the device, the spokesman said. Further details weren’t immediately available.
