A 28-year-old Dorchester man was released on personal recognizance today after his arraignment on charges of sexually assaulting a woman on an MBTA bus, MBTA Transit Police said.
Kenneth Nelson appeared in Dorchester District Court to face two counts of indecent assault and battery, Suffolk district attorney’s spokesman Jake Wark said.
A judge ordered that while Nelson awaits trial, he must report weekly to the probation department and not take any drugs or alcohol, Wark said.
The alleged assault happened near Blue Hill Avenue and Washington Street in Dorchester just before 3 p.m. Saturday, Transit Police said.
Nelson fled from the bus. The victim and a witness gave police a description of the assailant, Transit Police said.
A Transit Police motorcycle officer saw a man matching the description on Blue Hill Avenue. The officer arrested Nelson, Transit Police said.Melissa can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or on Twitter @Melissa__Hanson
