A diver with Massachusetts State Police removed a body from the Spicket River in Methuen Sunday evening.

Essex County District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Carrie Kimball-Monahan said State Police pulled the body of a 66-year-old white male from the river around 6:15 p.m.

Kimball-Monahan said foul play is not suspected but authorities were investigating because of the manner in which the body was discovered.

The man’s body was found in the river off Pine Street. Authorities did release the man’s identity Sunday night.

His body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
