Two Chatham women were injured in a three-car crash this morning that sent vehicles off the roadway and into a utility pole, police said.
Jamie Scudamore, 25, of Chatham, was cited with operating a motor vehicle negligently to endanger the public, failure to stop for a stop sign, and failure to use care in entering a highway, Chatham police said in a statement.
At 8:28 a.m. Scudamore was traveling south on Sam Ryder Road in a Mercury Mountaineer. Scudamore failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a Ford Taurus traveling west on Main Street (Route 28), the statement said.
The Taurus, driven by Cynthia Nowak, was forced into the eastbound lane due to the impact of the crash, hitting a Honda Fit driven by Anne Field. Nowak and Field’s vehicles were forced off the roadway and into a utility pole, the statement said.
All three vehicles were badly damaged, the statement said.
The two women were transported to Cape Cod Hospital. Nowak suffered serious injuries and Field suffered injuries not considered to be life-threatening, the statement said.
A dog belonging to one of the drivers was transported to Pleasant Bay Animal Hospital.
