Shots were fired in two incidents in New Bedford this afternoon, police said.
The first shots went off around 1:45 p.m. on Middle Street. A officer on patrol in the area immediately responded. Plainclothes officers and State Police also responded, said Captain Joseph Cordeiro.
Shortly after the first incident, shots were fired again not far away at the intersection of Middle and Chancery streets, Cordeiro said.
There are no victims or injuries at this time, Cordeiro said.
“It’s a very active investigation right now,” said Cordeiro.
Police have spoken with a few persons of interest. They are not sure if there is a link between the two shootings, Cordeiro said.
No further information was immediately available.
