Amtrak service suspended between New Haven and Providence due to fallen tree

Amtrak train service between New Haven and Providence was suspended this morning after a large tree, more than two feet in diameter, was discovered fallen across two tracks near Cranston, R.I.

“There was a really large tree that came down from last night’s storm on the tracks,” said Cliff Cole, Amtrak spokesman.

Service was suspended for seven trains between 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.
