Man snatched woman’s bicycle as she rode it near the Prudential Center
A man jumped out in front of a woman riding a bicycle near the Prudential Center late Saturday night, yelling: “Stop! Boston Police!” Then, he snatched her off the bike and pedaled off on it, police said.
The victim, identified only as a woman in her 50s, fought back, chasing the man down the street until she lost sight of him taking a right onto St. Botolph Street near Copley Place.
Police said the woman was riding her black Schwinn bicycle near W. Newton and St. Botolph streets around 11 p.m. when the man caught her by surprise.
The suspect then allegedly grabbed the woman off her bike, threw her to the ground, and-- after a brief struggle -- jumped on her bicycle, and rode off.
The man was described as being in his 30s with a stocky build. He was wearing a navy blue t-shirt and blue jeans at the time of the incident, police said.
Authorities searched the area but did not find the suspect. The victim declined medical attention, police said.
