Norwell police say 14-year-old girl was approached by Revere man driving red pickup truck

Norwell Police are attempting to locate a Revere man who approached a 14-year-old girl in Norwell on Saturday morning while driving in a red pick-up truck hauling scrap metal, Norwell police said.

In a statement issued by Chief Theodore Ross said his department was notified around 11 a.m. Saturday that a man in a red pick up truck had stopped a 14-year-old girl as she walked near the intersection of Stetson Road and Masthead Drive.

The man stopped the vehicle and rolled down his window, police said.

He then opened the door and said “hey” to the girl, but did not try to get her into the vehicle, police said.

“At this time the girl alertly ran to a nearby home,’’ Ross said.

A neighbor then approached the man, who asked the neighbor for directions before driving away.

Officers have since identified the pick-up driver as a 53-year-old Revere man.

“Although there is no crime reported at this time, the officers are attempting to locate the subject driving the truck to investigate further,’’ Ross said.
