During a break-in at Wayland Middle School Friday night, some equipment was taken from the library and a small amount of cash was stolen from the cafeteria, according to a report by Paul Stein, superintendent of schools.

“To my knowledge, five interior doors were pried open and some equipment was taken from the library, as was a small amount of cash from the cafeteria,’’ Stein said in an email sent to the parents and the community on Saturday.

“To say the least, this crime is an upsetting intrusion about which I wanted to make sure you were aware,’’ Stein wrote.
