WBZ AccuWeather Midday Forecast For Oct. 9

A high pressure system will bring dry and seasonable weather today. Patchy rain will arrive Thursday as a low pressure system develops off the coast, according to the National Weather Service.

“The remnants of Tropical Storm Karen will meander off the Atlantic coast, impacting Southern New England at the end of the week into the weekend,” said William Babcock, weather service meteorologist. “It could bring clouds and showers just offshore, but it’s tough to say when it’s going to happen.”

Today will be mostly sunny, with a high near 60. Some clouds will develop through the day in southern Massachusetts, cooling temperatures a couple of degrees. An east wind will bring gusts up to 13 miles per hour, according to the weather service. Temperatures will fall into the 40s overnight, and conditions will remain dry.

Thursday will be mostly cloudy, though some sun could peek through at times. The region should stay mostly dry through the day, and any precipitation will likely occur south of the Massachusetts Turnpike. Temperatures will tick up into the low 60s before falling to around 53 overnight.

The clouds won’t dissipate Friday, with temperatures in the mid-60s. Rain is likely, and again will most mostly fall in southern areas, especially Cape Cod and the islands. Clouds will continue overnight, as temperatures drop into the 50s, according to the weather service.

The weekend will see a good amount of sun, though rain is likely.

Saturday and Sunday should see mostly dry conditions, though light showers moving in off the ocean could impact coastal regions Saturday night into Sunday. Another area of moisture could arrive late Sunday, ending the weekend with more showers. Temperatures will be in the mid-60s through the weekend, with partly sunny skies both days.

Columbus Day will be partly sunny with a high near 64. Rain is unlikely, but can’t be ruled out, according to the weather service.
