Commuters see delays on Green Line, Route 1

Commuters encountered some delays this morning driving into Boston from the north and on Green Line trolleys.

A power problem on the Green Line D branch shut down service between Reservoir and Riverside stations for about five hours, according to the MBTA.

At about 7:47 a.m., the MBTA discovered a wire down near the Newton Center stop on the eastbound side, MBTA spokeswoman Kelly Smith said in an e-mail. MBTA officials fixed the wire and service resumed by 1 p.m.

Shuttle buses replaced service along the affected portion for the morning.

Delays also occurred on Route 1, where an early morning crash involving three cars shut down the northbound lane of Route 1 north of Route 62 in Danvers from about 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., State Police said.

Two women — both of whom were driving vehicles involved in the crash — were taken to Beverly Hospital.

No information was immediately available on the nature and severity of their injuries.
