Weymouth High School was evacuated this morning and classes have been suspended for the day after a written bomb threat was discovered in a school bathroom, according to an alert sent by Interim Principal Peter Haviland.
“The Weymouth police and fire departments are doing a thorough sweep of our school,” Haviland said in his e-mail to parents. “Be assured, we will be working closely with the Weymouth police to identify the person responsible for this crime.”
Students were evacuated safely, and no injuries have been reported.
Buses were deployed to take students home, and parents were advised to pick up their children on Pleasant Street in Weymouth, as the school’s campus has been closed off, Haviland said.
Haviland said in the alert that counselors will offer assistance to students who need support when school resumes Tuesday.Jasper can be reached at email@example.com or on Twitter @Jasper_Craven
