Girlfriend charged with stabbing boyfriend, causing life-threatening injuries in Dorchester incident
A Dorchester woman allegedly stabbed her boyfriend in the abdomen, sending him to the hospital with life-threatening injuries Sunday afternoon, Boston police said.
Tina Thompson, 46, was arrested is expected to be arraigned Monday on a charge of assault with intent to murder in Dorchester Municipal Court, according to police.
Officers said they went to a residential condo unit at 400 Savin Hill Ave. at 12:41 p.m. Sunday after receiving a radio call that someone had been stabbed there.
In the kitchen of the unit, officers said they found Thompson’s boyfriend suffering from an apparent stab wound to his abdomen. He was taken to Boston Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, police said.
Officers spoke to Thompson outside the apartment, according to police.
She told them she and her boyfriend got into a verbal argument that escalated into a physical altercation.
Her hands were injured, police said. She was taken to Tufts Medical Center, treated, discharged and then arrested.
One woman who lives on the same floor as the couple said she saw the man being placed into an ambulance on a stretcher, while the woman, who was covered in blood, boarded a second ambulance on her own.
The neighbor, who withheld her name for reasons of safety, said the two are known to argue loudly. Police have been called to their apartment on several occasions, she said.
“They don’t fight all the time, but when they do fight, they really fight,” the woman said.
Men are not normally victims of domestic violence, according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, a federal agency that researches crime statistics for the US Justice Department.
